Depression

Why am I like this, I used to enjoy life?
I just can't cope with the basic tasks of each day, I feel like
 sleeping or hiding away.
Can I put this depression behind for good, or am I labeled
for the rest of my life?
My medications help but they leave me not myself.
Is my only escape finding numbness in alcohol or drugs?
Does anyone care or understand me?

It is amazing the percentage of our civilized population which battle with depression. Depression can come from unmet expectations, deep hurts caused by others, guilt from the past or sometimes we're just not sure where it has come from.

What we do know is that life seems empty, even if we have lots of things to enjoy. Gifted doctors and medications have brought relief to many, yet people struggle with recurring depression. Too soon medications become ineffective needing to be changed and the painful process is repeated. At times what works leaves people unable to cope with all of life in other ways.

Too many have faced years of counseling and medications and continue to struggle on. Life circumstances play a part, past choices and actions impact our well being. Yet we are more than just mind and body, there is the soul or spirit of a person, this is where deep issues have root and will find their long term solutions. We must address the source of our need which begins in our soul.

Move beyond dealing only with symptoms.
