Alcoholism

I do not like who I am as I drink, how can I change?
But a drink at the end of the day just settles me, is this bad?
I feel out of control with or without alcohol...
I don't drink much, just socially. (is that what your family would say?)
They don't know how awful their life looks.
They don't know how much they are hurting us, the ones they say they love the most.
I've tried to stop many time and ways and I just can't say "No".
If I do not beat this, it will cost me everything.

Alcohol touches and wrecks so many lives yet we hang on to it as our joy.The cost of alcohol's effects on society is huge, yet we drink on.  For many it is their coping mechanism yet it takes these lives into greater bondage.  It has been said "a man takes a drink, then a drink takes a drink, then a drink takes a man".

Why do we drink?  Because we just want to.  Everyone seems to just drink socially.  What does that really mean?  You can always find someone who drinks more, so they have the problems. Society glamorizes it and people blindly follow.

For those who hit bottom it is almost impossible to stop.

Long term alcoholism takes its toll physically and mentally.  The greater scars are on the lives of those who live alongside the alcoholic.  Social rehab hopes to go from 5 to 7% success rates.  When you introduce Jesus Christ into the process success rates jump to  66%.

Friends may continue to invite you to join them as you take your life further down into a hole.  Are they really your friends?  There is usually an inability to "just say no" without the power of Jesus Christ.

Could this struggle be in your life that you might be drawn to know Christ personally? Christ will give you an even greater victory with eternal life, and then deliverance from alcoholism?

It is possible to find freedom and healing.

2  Prov 23:31 Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper. Your eyes will see  strange sights and your mind imagine confusing things.

Eph 5:15-18  Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.  Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

1 Cor 6:12  "Everything is permissible for me" - but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me" - but I will not be mastered by anything.

Rom 7:19  For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing.

Prov 16:25  There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

John 8:31-32  Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

Matt 11:28-30  "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
